Leteise on Fleek powers Independence feel

German print, electrifying dance and a toast to yet another Independence Day will be the order of the diurnal at this year’s cultural-urbanized event, the second edition of Leteisi on Fleek. The event organized by Colorful Entertainment promises a superior night of bliss, having incorporated more relevant international musicians to bring in a more diverse cultural exchange.

Responding to Weekendlife inquiry about the event, Director of Colourful Entertainment, David Letshwiti said Leteisi on Fleek is a life-styled event usually held during Independence holidays and brings together some of the most talented local and international musical artists to an audience, mesmerized in Leteisi or German print couture as a defining theme of the day resembling a wholesome experience for patrons.

Letshwiti said the event is anchored around two components of the arts-cultural fashion and contemporary Afro-Pop music, but not excluding other genres. “Although the initial concept had more of a music festival celebratory feel, Leteisi on Fleek has evolved through to fashion itself around offering a fiesta of a cultural celebration” he said.

Letshwiti indicated that they have featured a very strong local head liners and by far this year’s lineup and entertainment is the best they have ever put together, “we have also taken into consideration taking the event to a different venue for a better experience”.

“I will say it has grown and still growing prominently looking at how far we are in terms of sales and how people have welcomed the initiative. Batswana have been fully supportive and we have since seen some foreigners as far as Lesotho and South Africa taking interest in coming to this event.”

When revealing more details about the event, Letshwiti stressed that they have incorporated three sections to the event being general, golden & VIP.

“Each of these areas will be coupled with activities that will leave our revealers in owe and wanting more. We will have more photographers and videographers to document the event and most vitally will be have 360 video booths.

On the lineup is: Amantle Brown, Dato Seiko, Double Up, Ancestral Ritual, Dikakapa, Maxx Wa Bana, Frostbite, German Dollar, Lexx, 4DD, DJ Quest, DJ Cody & Pexx De DJ. Internationally, Leteisi on Fleek has invited Mafikizolo, Azana, Ntando and Jaziel Brothers.

He stated that due to the growth of the event, it was imperative to take it to a venue with the right holding and parking capacity. “Event space in Gaborone is very saturated and expensive since there are a lot of competing venues, Leteisi on Fleek is one of the biggest shows and it cannot be run and coordinated from one’s pocket” he stated.

However, running an event without sponsors can be pain in the back. Letshwiti attests to this matter, saying “that is our most significant challenge because not having sponsorship also deters us from working at the best of our ability. I urged corporates and government to appreciate the initiative as much as the community does, I think it can go a long way in growing it and not only it, the economy even.”
