Patrons hail Choral Extravaganza

Post Covid-19, Corpus Christi Catholic Church hosted an epic Extravaganza Choral choir’s showdown between the biggest choral Choirs in the country as they brought back beautiful choral music after a two year hiatus.

The event was held on the 11th of June 2022 at Mantlwaneng Westwood international School in Gaborone. The mighty four heavyweights being, Corpus Christi Choir aka the Brand as affectionately known, KTM choir and Sefako choristers delivered mesmerising vocal Extravaganza of sweet melodies of praise and entertainment as promised.

The aim of the concert was to raise funds for the church. After Covid-19 churches have been urged to observe Covid 19 protocols which includes social distancing, the church premises has now become small to cater for all members now we have to build more to accommodate everyone.

Chairperson Corpus Christi Pastoral Council Prudence Mabua stated that the church has even grown spiritually, so they want to extend the church and this was one of the initiative of raising the funds.

Mantlwaneng Westwood hall was overflowing as everyone took their seat and some had to stand. The concert started with opening Prayer by Corpus Christi Catholic Church choir, setting the atmosphere for the concert conducted by Pako Modise, the choir was in splendid voice.

Welcome remarks were given by Richard Malikongwa who urged the audience to relax and have best tome of their lives. The varied programme, included Solo sessions of consisting of 5 soloist, choirs performing 2 songs each then surprise act by Tshenolo Mosimanegape before the break. Marabi sessions followed after 30 minutes break performing 3 songs each and closing with a mass choir.

Thato Keitire and Thato Kefapogile gave their first duet singing song titled ‘All I ask of you’ followed by soloist Tshepiso Pati giving his heartfelt song by the name ‘Gira con me’, then Tumelo Nyoka singing Sevuol Ballare, Game Lucia Mosupi giving us Caro mio Ben, Lame Leroy with My Way lastly Thato giving is solo performance alone singing Amigos. The soloist gave their best melodious performance that had audience standing on their feet.

The concert was applauded by a considerable audience, including a number of families with children, who had been encouraged by the variety in the programme. Diamond melodies took their first stand giving two melodies that blew the audience away, followed by Sefako Choristers giving their best performance lastly KTM Choir had the audience stand on their feet with their performances.

Tshenolo Mosimanegape was a surprise awaiting to give audience various songs shinning away with his talent as he sang songs of various genre including the late…. Songs. Audience was now fully in the mood as Marabi sessions started, it got audience up all night dancing along with chores as they perform, Diamond melodies took its first stand again, followed by KTM Choir as they gave their donations to the Chairperson Mabua as a part of supporting them, then Sefako Choristers, finally the host Corpus Christi Church Choir.

The choir concluded the evening with a spirited and lively performance where all the choirs had to combine to form a mass choir and give the best performance of their lives.
