BTCL donates to Abbie


The Trust Account Holders for Abbie Ntshabele, Moribame & Matthews Attorneys received a P31 000 cheque from the Managing Director of Botswana Telecommunications Corporation Limited (BTCL) Paul Taylor at the BTCL Commercial Centre this week.


In line with the organizations corporate social responsibility, employees of BTCL raised funds through the BTCL Foundation to help Abbie overcome her medical condition. Taylor said it is the Foundation’s will to engage widely in community charities and to create relationships with external organisations. Taylor thanked BTCL for contributing towards Abbie’s health care.


Abbie’s uncle, Michael Ntshabele and wife attended the event. “We thought we were alone, but Batswana have been amazing,” said Ntshabele whose 14 year old niece is currently in the United Kingdom battling a rare form of ovarian cancer known as Immature Teratoma. He explained that Abbie is still at the UK, awaiting the authorization from doctors to fly to China. The uncle explained that there are still medical issues hindering her flying ability.


Abby’s uncle was briefing members of the Dutch Reformed Church in Botswana (Mochudi Botlhaba) branch whyere Abby was worshipping before her encounter with with a rare form of Ovarian Cancer, known as Immature Teratoma, that she is suffering from.


Ntshabele also recently assured a fully packed church that ‘Abby is doing well but she is not well as we all know’. He revealed that Abby’s operation national contributions have long been achieved owing to Batswana’s unwavering support.
“However Abby is yet to be flown top China where her operation will take place.I spoke to those who are by her side in UK recently and they said that Abby’s condition will need a Plane suitable for her condition hence the delays,” he revealed.
Keneilwe Moribame Mere, Senior Attorney of Moribame & Matthews Attorneys encouraged other organizations to support worthy causes.


BTCL donates phone books
Meanwhile at the same gathering BTCL Managing Director, Taylor announced the beneficiaries  of the old telephone directories (phone books) that are to be channeled for recycling to make money; which are Segocha Molelo from Letlhakeng and the school the Deaf from Francistown.  A recycling company will buy the directories and the cash raised will be given to the two charities.
