The Thomas family has pledged to donate groceries for at least three deserving families through the BENO society every month. Interestingly, the donations are made by the Thomas’ kids, Neha and Eric, both under fifteen years of age.
Although the donations were initially started by the parents, the kids took over when BENO Coordinator Mma Mpho suggested that the kids take over from the parents. She helped them with the idea of raising funds to buy the groceries. The two kids initially were involved physically as they would load the groceries when Mma mpho collected them.
Neha and Eric started raising money which usually comes as donations more especially at their schools. Eric told WeekendLife that most of the money was raised through his birthday and he then forwarded it to the parents who then buy the food on their behalf.
The two also donate their old clothes to the society so that they can be given to needy communities. With their Head office in Moshupa, BENO currently has offices in Molepolole and Mogoditshane and their main purpose is to alleviate poverty. They do care- work and mainly focus on Old people, people with disabilities as well as street kids. When one knows any family that needs their assistance they just inform them and they will be there to extend a helping hand.
They also work with more than 50 students who are enrolled with Boitekanelo College in Tlokweng to assist them with whatever they need. In an interview with WeekendLife, Mmma Mpho also highlighted that they are looking forward to working with this publication to build play grounds for children at Dibotong as well as donating wheelchairs for the disabled at Ralekgetho.
In May 2014, controversial pint sized musician, Odirile Sento married his longtime girlfriend, Kagiso Sento in a glamorous wedding, not knowing that eight years later, the two will be fighting until the very end of their holy union.
Mental health is one critical element in someone’s life but gloomily, it is often overlooked. Topics centered on mental health and depression dominate the public discourse. The national conversation surrounding mental wellness, both online and offline has aided in the stigma of suffering from depression being removed, slowly but surely.
