BFA eyeballing Butler

BFA delegates annoyed by Butler

The new BFA CEO, Kitso Kemoeng has instituted action against Zebras head coach Peter Butler, Botswana Football Association (BFA) President Tebogo Sebego has said.

Sebego made the admissions at his association’s Annual General Assembly last weekend, in response to a rancorous display of antipathy toward Butler over his abrasive conduct by a South East district BFA affiliate.

The South East District football administration’s helmsman revealed his disdain for Butler saying, “I wanted him to be here so that I could have addressed him directly, Butler has a putrid demeanour, the way he addresses journalists and other people, I understand he has a twitter account ko a kgonang go kgagoga hela! (where he speaks willy-nilly) Is there no way you can restrain him?” enquired the outwardly militant soccer-head.

In response, Sebego who had earlier assured the assembled affiliates that the BFA technical team will continue looking into the performance of the national team and making relevant suggestions and recommendations, said “action has already been taken at the BFA and an engagement process has already been instituted by the CEO, which will also look at what he said in the media and a rapprochement effort will be taken with those affected.”

It is understood that the local chief football federation’s scrutiny on the highly opinionated Butler, legendary for his apparent fear and loathing of the local media has to do with his abrasive and uncensored public blusters against Mochudi Centre Chiefs and national team player Lesego Galenamotlhale, who he was quoted in a midweek publication labelling as an overrated football player, not deserving of the player of the season and supporters player of the season awards, at the previous Be-mobile premier league season.

Sebego furthermore seized the BFA Annual General Assembly to honour Botswana’s football legends and founding administrators’ awarding Ray Matlapeng Molomo who was BFA’s founding president with a presidential award. Molomo was recognised as the founding father of football administration having played a strategic role revolutionising the formally medieval football, organising and capsuling it in a trajectory of world standard growth.

Former Zebras national team coach Stanley Tshosane was also honoured as the first national team coach to take Zebras to the Africa Cup of Nations while Mogogi Gabonamong who has trail blazed through successive national teams on his way to major league professional football was awarded for being an embodiment of professionalism in home-grown football while Dickson Omphitlhetse Gabanakgosi for his contribution to football.
