Mogorosi completes Rollers move

Joel Mogorosi is believed to have completed the expected move to his grooming club Township Rollers following a bittersweet stay with South African premier league giants, Bloemfontein Celtic.   Sources close to the developments have revealed that ‘Juluka’ has penned a two year deal.

His move was always cast in stone given Township Rollers nature of attracting high profile players with competitive wages.  Reports say he has been training with the Gaborone West based giants since he set foot in the country after attempts of tying himself to the South African club hit a snag.

Celtic could not renew his contract despite an impressive debut season with them. His goal in the MTN top 8 final against Sundowns 2 years ago won Celtic the cup and inscribed his signature performance in the echelons of Siwelele faithfuls.

Rollers has been monitoring the situation of the player and were always convinced that they would clinch his signature, more especially after University of Pretoria expressed doubts about his playing expertise during pre-season games. Celtic’s rivals, Free state Stars were the last team linked with him, but the move is reported to have collapsed under despicable silence- giving The Blues a second opportunity to sign him.

Those close to developments cite that his move had already materialised from the time Celtic showed him the door. Rollers, a club touted to have polished him before being packaged by Chiefs- deliberately left the door open when jersey number 17 was not taken by any player this season. The number has been previously worn by Gofaone Tiro who has now wears jersey number 31- Mogorosi has been presented another opportunity to don his favourite number.  “He has worn it before at Rollers, and when he moved to Celtic, he still wore it, “said a source.

The arrival of Mogogi Gabonamong to Township Rollers- a former teammate of Mogorosi at Celtic is also believed to be another factor that ushered Juluka into their camp, consequently ignoring the pull of both Mochudi Centre Chiefs and Gaborone United.

Mogorosi exited Botswana football scenes after an impressive showing at Mochudi Center Chiefs for two consecutive seasons. He was on his way to FC Platinum of Zimbabwe to reunite with former coach Rahman Gumbo, but his scintillating display against South Africa in the group stages of AFCON 2013 impressed coach Clinton Larsen of Celtic. He soon enquired about him and he was soon called to join the SA team.
