Botswana Netball Association (BONA) has begun rigorous preparations for the 2018 under 21 World Cup to be hosted in Botswana. The local team battled it out against their Asians counterparts, Singapore, in a three day mini tournament held at the Botswana College of Agriculture (BCA). The tourney included Botswana senior netball team, National Under 21 and Singapore.
This tournament, which ended yesterday (Friday), follows yet another player based tournament, BONA Spar Superstars, which prepped the players, who throughout proved that they are not ordinary players.
On Thursday evening the young girls popularly known as Ma-Little’s lost against the senior national team by 37-47. Although they suffered a loss, the team takes solace in that that they played against an experienced. The under 21 played last evening and the game was ongoing at the time of going to press. On Wednesday evening, the senior team beat Singapore 44-32.
After this, the national team will depart to Singapore to play a mini league there which will have more teams. However according to the Association mouthpiece, Kealeboga Ramogobya, the team will comprise mostly young players, “this will be done to give them necessary exposure and gain experience of what is required in international games.” The tournament which will be used to rank countries is expected to begin on the 11th of next month.
The national under 21 team is made up of players like Sarona “Sasa” Hans and Letang Mogotlhwane who are some of netballers that were attached to some elite teams in Singapore last year, and they are expected to be leading in 2018.

One of the reasons is the availability of qualified and experienced coaches, who have been working tirelessly on the ground to ensure that they scout talent and develop more athletes.
For the first time after eons, football clubs plying their trade in the elite league are walking in the shadow of the undefined with nothing concrete agreed and on sight before the commencement of the football season.
