Reckless Butler tears into BFA administration

Senior National Team coach Peter James Butler

Tongues are expected to wag in a looming confrontation between the senior national team coach Peter James Butler and his employers, Botswana Football Association after the Briton expressed his growing misgivings about the poor administration of the local mother body publicly on social media yet again.

Through his Twitter account, the head coach went on another Twitter outrage this week, ranting about the daily running of the football Association and its employees.

‘‘Why would a guy, ex school teacher, no football qualification or coach education alludes to be the technical director and tries to destroy our national spirit.’’ This was in relation to the leaked information that his superior Benny Kgomela is to initiate changes on the technical team. He frowned upon that and affirmed that no changes will take place behind his back. ‘‘how dare Kgomela interfere in my technical team, I am very disappointed, Chico Nare will never be my assistant, Never!’’

BFA, which has been lambasted for treating the British born with kid gloves is said to be eager for change. There is a serious confrontation impending to take drastic measures against the coach hunted three years ago to replace home- grown coach Stanley Tshosane.   ‘‘We need to tame this man before everything else spirals out of control,’’ said a source.

Butler is seen as a free spirited English man. Although taking out his frustration outside the administration table may prove dangerous, a mist of doubt lingers as to whether he will see his contract extended once it expires in February of next year.

When reached for comment, BFA president Tebogo Sebego said they are aware of Butler’s Twitter outburst and that action was already underway. ‘‘ Yes we are aware and an instruction has already trickled down to the secretariat to deal with the matter, in short BFA Chief Executive Officer(CEO) Kemoeng is dealing with it,’’ Sebego said.

On the field of play however, the outspoken coach seems to have coaxed a winning formula for the team. Zebras are still in contention for qualification for the Morocco AFCON 2017. Sitting just a solitary point behind Burkina Faso and Uganda, Butler is hopeful he will drive Botswana to the prestigious tournament for the second time in its history.
