BOT 50 endorses Steez

The Bot 50 office has endorsed the “Hype Up Bot 50” musical campaign that was set on tone late May by some local artists spearheaded by rapper and TV presenter, Vincent Tiro, commonly known as Steez.

The campaign was launched on the 27th of May 2016 and its main objective was to reinforce government’s concerted efforts to create the much needed hype, anticipation and excitement amongst Batswana around the forth coming 50th Independence celebrations.

The campaign was later presented to the BOT 50 team on June 8 along with other campaign ideas still in the pipeline.

“The move to present our ideas to BOT 50 after the launch was a deliberate one from our side to make our intentions clear that we were out to be proactive and will stop at nothing to see the objectives of the campaign through,” said Steez.

“We are now happy to announce to our stakeholders, partners, potential stakeholders, partners and well wishers that after going through our extensive and comprehensive project proposal, the BOT 50 team has now endorsed our campaign. This was confirmed by an official letter of endorsement which we received on the 7th of July 2016 from BOT 50 addressed to our office,” the elated artist revealed to Weekend Life.

“We are really happy that our patriotic hard work didn’t go unnoticed and was endorsed by BOT 50. This official endorsement will in a great way aid us seek assistance from relevant stakeholders and BOT 50 to see some of the campaign’s pending ideas through. This letter will indeed act as a call to action tool for us upon engaging other potential stakeholders or partners all in the interest of hyping up BOT 50 and celebrating Botswana,” Steez, who is also Managing Director of Homegrown Concepts said. Homegrown Concepts is the company through which the campaign is being run.

The implementation of the “Hype Up BOT 50” campaign was marked by the release of two BOT 50 inspired radio singles, “Pula” and “My Botswana” as well as a music video which debuted on local entertainment program, Flavour Dome. It was also rolled out on the ever green social media through the hash tag (#hypeupBOT50). A Facebook group “#hypeupBOT50” was also created and is being used to share all BOT 50 related activities. The group is also a platform for Batswana and Botswana citizens to share their BOT 50 experiences.

The two radio singles which are a celebration of Botswana, her people and her milestone achievements are already play listing on radio and are also available for free download online. Their download links are available on the Facebook group.

From a patriotism point of view, the campaign will follow in the footsteps of another campaign that Steez ran back in 2012 called “Zebras 4 Life” which was a dedication to our national soccer team after making history by qualifying for Afcon for the first time ever in our football history.
