More internal squabbles at Chiefs

It does not rain but pours for embattled Mochudi Centre Chiefs as perpetual board room bickers continue to ram the team further into the bottomless pit of misery. One such example is a splinter group which emerged to denounce the club’s meeting held over the weekend because it believes the “club’s leadership is not genuine,” Weekend Sport has learnt.

The group, this publication has learnt, cited various concerns in the daily running of Mochudi Centre Chiefs sporting club that operates as a society. The concern by the group is that the leaders of the ailing club are operating in vacuity, and as a matter of fact, are not supposed to administer the affairs of the club.

According to the group, one Tsieng Ramocha should be the lawful chairperson of the society and the current “leadership,” that comprises Raymond Tsheko, Clifford Mogomotsi and Ernest Molome is not genuine and therefore held an illegal meeting over the past weekend.

When the trio formed the trust to run the affairs of Mochudi Centre Chiefs Sporting Club, they supposedly dissolved the society, but the aggrieved group, alleges that Molome, who was then the society’s chairperson, never dissolved it, hence the splinter group led by Ramocha claimed that the club is affiliated as a society with the Botswana Football Association (BFA).

Ramocha’s Executive Committee further alleged Molome’s group abandoned the Society to form a Trust in August 2014 without any handing over in favour of the Trust. They say the Trust has been illegally running the affairs of the society for few years.

‘‘BFA has confirmed to the Society that the affiliation status belongs to it not the Trust and further demanded Kgatleng Region to clarify and demonstrate how the status of Mochudi Centre Chiefs was changed from Society to that of Trust and attached all the relevant documents since at BFA office, records show the club as ‘society”, reads part of the complaint from Ramocha’s group.

On the 28th of May 2016, it is alleged that the society’s representative, Ramocha and Kitso Maswena were denied the opportunity to be part of the proceedings of Kgatleng Regional Football Assembly by Kgatleng Regional Football Association committee led by Clifford Mogomotsi. It is averred that the reason was that the affiliation status belonged to the Trust and not to the Society.

However, the society maintains that by holding last week’s meeting, the long standing committee has now again abandoned their Trust and held an annual general meeting in Mochudi at the expense of the Society.

‘‘The constitution of Mochudi Centre Chiefs Sporting Club (Society) which is registered with the Registrar of Societies does not make any provision of membership of the club to be open to Trusts.

Neither is there provision in the constitution of the Society for the affairs of the society to be administered or managed by a Trust,” the letter declared.

Therefore, according to the letter, any purported amendment or resolution that was taken during the gathering is unlawful and cannot be of any legal force or effect to the society.

“Those who participated in the illegal gathering have done so at their own peril because Society’s legal representative has served those individuals with the letters just the day before their meeting to notify them that their gathering is illegal and the Executive committee will do everything in its power to ensure that any unlawful resolutions taken under the name of the Society are nullified,’’ concluded the letter.
