Berry Heart honours Kenya in album

Controversial poet Berry Heart has yesterday (Friday) released her much talked about single titled ‘Kenya’ from her upcoming album Kenya which is expected to be officially released on October 26 during Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta’s birthday.

The single is a dedication to Mama Fatuma Children’s Home in Nairobi which houses over hundred underprivileged kids.

The story of Kenya began in 2013 when Berry Heart first visited Kenya through the Botswana Embassy in Kenya. She visited the foundation as part of her trip where she was scheduled to perform. She was touched to see the level of poverty that prevail the kids at the foundation and she made a plea help donate to the kids on annual basis to help the foundation.

A regular at Kenya Heart makes it a point that every year when she visits the country she pays a courtesy call to the foundation and spends time with the kids. “They are so close to my heart”, she said. The album was endorsed by Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta who agreed to feature on the cover of the album side by side with Berry Heart. According to Heart the President agreed to give them support from the recording to last stage of the album and the proceeds will be channelled to the Mama Fatuma Foundation to help the children.

The track Kenya is a metaphor about an unborn Kenyan child who is already exposed to life threatening situation. Kenya as a country has been going through a lot, the album gives the country some love that can be shared to a child. In the album Heart who made her mark as a poet of note has gone an extra mile, she did a lot of singing which is more RnB fused with soul and her poetry.

“I have done a lot of albums and I feel this one here is my debut, it is close to me and speaks to the masses and honours a child”, she said. The song was recorded, mastered and engineered locally. The album will be officially launched in both Botswana and Kenya before the end of this year.

My sincere gratitude to you my President Uhuru Kenyatta for the endorsement, thanks for accepting that our picture features as my cover album 'Kenya'. This is your birthday present to be officially released on your birthday 26th October 2016”, said Berry Heart in a statement.
