Moyana could leave Rollers

While Premier League champions Township Rollers have demonstrated a gulf in talent in their squad over some months, behind the facade of marquee signings, looms a titanic battle that nearly pushed Galabgwe Moyana to leave The Blues.

WeekendSport understands that the arrival of former Mochudi Centre Chiefs speedy winger, Lemponye Tshireletso, has left Galabgwe Moyana questioning his future at the club he joined a season and a half ago.  Tshireletso’s signing meant that Moyana has to either sit on the bench or be deployed at left back position, sources say.  Moyana has since threatened to leave the club before the transfer window closed after Mark Harrison, Rollers coach, opted to play him on the left back position. While this was happening, Rollers sources say Orapa United was monitoring the situation with keen interest.

Moyana, in the previous season was sometimes fielded at the left back when injuries plugged the Gaborone west based giants, but it appears the talented left back was not entirely pleased with the coach’s decision.

When reached for clarity, Rollers coach Mark Harrison said nobody is guaranteed a place his squad. Everybody will have to compete to earn a place, no favours.  ‘‘ it’s all about competition, all of my players are to compete to earn a place in the starting line up, there are no favours for anybody,’’ he said.

Some however say Moyana is been sabotaged by one Rollers senior player (name know to this publication) who is believed to have played a massive role in recruiting Lemponye Tshireletso to Rollers. It is said Moyana is well aware of the doom’s day conspiracy and he is ready to storm out the club should this continue.

Moyana left Chiefs after Rollers knocked on his doors on two consecutive accounts. First he was promised a monthly salary around the region of P18 000 but chiefs developed a hard nose stance. On the second asking, Rollers improved the offer to over P 20 000 and promised him jersey number 10, famously donned by team legends.

Moyana‘s exit strategy was however under scrutiny. When leaving chiefs, he was not obliged to submit a formal request since he was not tied to Magosi.  He never publicly spoke about his desire to join Rollers, although he eventually left.  He has yet to talk about his joining the team, as he still refuses to talk about his life at Rollers.

He is seen as a player who is down to earth and would not like to involve himself in player politics. Like many players, particularly those who have spent some time at a club and have enjoyed a good relationship with the supporters, he does not want things to turn ugly between him and the club, sources inside Rollers say.

Moyana's strength of character, though, should not be underestimated. He has always known what he wants, from when he left home to join Notwane's academy, to battling through a testing start at Centre Chiefs, when talent was over pouring at the time of his arrival. All the while, Rollers and the team management believe that they are preparing a strong team that will   strive for silverware and continue to embellish their reputation for hard-nose dealing.
