Revelers celebrate Kasi Culture in style

While all festive shows in Francistown had lukewarm responses, revelers were treated to the biggest ever show in Francistown over the New Year eve  thanks  to social entrepreneur and Francistown West politician Tebogo Toteng. The show was used as a New Year countdown but also served as an opportunity to celebrate 50 years of Kasi Culture.


Kasi signifies brotherhood, friendship and kinship of having grown together and normally under difficult circumstances. “ Toteng said in an interview. Headlined by core Rapper the self styled Bicko God MC, Boiterg, KingPin, Teddyman Wa Lesheke, Chase, Acuz, BigNose, Wadada, Killerwayguard, Makoriba and may many ore, the show attracted over a thousand people jammed in an open space.


Making an ominous entrance into the stage Mr. Tebogo Toteng graced the stage as Dj Tebza treating the audience to old school tracks much to the delight of the crowd. Monarch is usually regarded as a crime hotspot but the show went into the morning at around 6am without any incident.


“I am proud of my people, grateful to their behavior and cooperation and I am glad we are establishing ourselves as a hospitable community. It is important that we break bad perceptions about our area. It is a mission that I intend to carry forward.”  Toteng said after the event.


Toteng said there is no doubt that the entertainment industry offers the biggest opportunity to provide a source of livelihood to young people. “This sort of untapped talent is unprecedented”  He further said coming out of the successful show he will putting together all the small local artists to see how they can work together working forward. “We are much stronger together,” he concluded. The show was also supported by Francistown liquor moghuls Stanley Griesmeir and Lilian Griesmeir.
