Vee nominated for Metro FM Music Awards

Kwaito-kwasa king, Odirile Vee Mampeezy Sento has been nominated for the 2017 Metro FM music awards. Vee Mampeezy was among the nominees announced on Tuesday evening for the One Africa Award alongside other music titans, including the likes of Nigerians; Tekno Pana, Tiwa Savage, Pato ranking as well as Kommanda Obbs of the hit track ‘Ke tauwa’ from Lesotho.

The I Do hit maker indicated that despite him being one of the biggest icons in the local music industry and Southern Africa as a whole, being a nominee in these awards has put him in a bigger place to prove his prowess in music, being nominated alongside powerhouses in their own right.

The 16th edition of the Metro FM Music Awards is themed ‘What’s Next Is All That Matters,’ building onto last year’s theme, ‘Legends Don’t Stop, They Ask What’s Next’. According to the Metro fm site, “The theme indicates that it’s not just about getting that hit song play-listed on Metro FM, it’s not about finishing off a great album and it’s not about having a great video to go with your track, but about what you do next to continue building onto your glories.”

Vee Mampeezy is a legend in his own right in Botswana’s music industry. Recently, he has made his mark in South Africa’s music industry, with his latest hits from the current album, I Do getting frequent airplay in that country. The kwaito star’s I Do has perched him at the summit of his career, perhaps owing to the transitions he has made in his music over the years and the fact that he featured a lot of seasoned artists from South Africa in it. The video to the hit, features Somizi and Khanyi Mbau. The song has played on Y-FM, Metro FM, Trace Africa, MTV Base among others.

According to the star, he will put up a great campaign in South Africa to mobilize his fan base that side to vote in numbers. Only South African lines are eligible to vote. The voting opens on the 18th January at 00:00 and closes on the 12 February 2017.
The now born again Vee has attributed his nomination to God, “Thank you Lord Jesus for this nomination, This is such an honor.” The awards will be held on Saturday, 25 February 2017 at the Inkosi Luthuli Convention Centre (ICC) in Durban, Kwa-Zulu Natal and will be broadcast live on state broadcaster SABC1.
