BAC conferred with PMR Africa Diamond Arrow Award

Botswana Accountancy College was this week awarded the P.M.R Africa Diamond Arrow Award in recognition of their hard work and to celebrate their excellence.

Speaking at the event, BAC Executive Director, Serty Leburu said that starting off the year by awarding staff members and institutions as PMR Africa was doing would provide employees and management with renewed energy and focus for months ahead. According to her, excellence has been embedded in our being and our culture. “This is attested by how we cultivated and ploughed our fields, stored our harvest, built our huts, took care of our birds and animals like cattle and goats to the extent that we branded them for identity and governance,” she said.

She further encouraged that future generations should continue to be groomed to carry on the legacy to ensure that even more generations are impacted in future. “It is platforms like this that should remind us that as businesses and Institutions, we can collectively and hugely contribute to the growth of the country’s economy,” she remarked.

In acknowledging the award, Leburu said that “In our context as Botswana Accountancy College, we believe that excellence and Good governance and principles form part of our intrinsic fabric critical for driving the institutions growth and realisation of the College’s strategic goals. We work very hard and smart together towards a common goal; to be a Leading Business University of Choice in Africa and beyond.”

Said Leburu, “For us this is another mark of excellence for which we pride ourselves in and attribute it to the expertise and commitment of our employees who go beyond expectation to ensure a robust learning experience for our students.” The BAC Executive further stated that PMR Africa enhances global competitiveness for companies and institutions, as the surveys they do will profile Botswana as a growth point and a potential investment area for foreign and local developers and investors.

She further remarked that her institution trains to develop market ready graduates who can contribute to the Botswana economy since the world has become one global market which all businesses should strive to compete in. “Therefore, as businesses in Botswana, we should know that the world is our market as well.

As an institution of higher learning, this is a model we have adopted in our curricular as well,” she said. PMR Africa is a company with the mandate to enhance excellence in diverse companies and institutions. The Diamond Arrow Award is awarded to an institution ranked 1st overall and rated at least 4.10 out of 5.00 (equivalent to outstanding).
