Security guards rob BFA

Security guards placed at Lekidi Football Centre have reportedly stolen the national team’s training kit that is believed to cost between P5000 and P6000 in a space of two weeks. While the way ward behaviour was tamed and reported last week Friday, the police are now working with the Zebras manager on the on-going investigations.

WeekendSport has established that the association has taken a decision to part ways with the security company (name withheld) and claim damages incurred. Before discovering the real culprits, it is understood that the association was starting to point fingers of blame amongst themselves. It is said the association was about to point fingers of blame at each for the continued disappearance of Zebras kit of all national teams.

“Yes there has been a serious case of theft in our organization and each time that happened, we were not able to come with something concrete, but now I can tell you we have finally caught the perpetrators,” BFA spokesperson Tumo Mpatane said. It is said the security guards were too careless with the association’s building and went on to steal the national team kit, but left everyone puzzled when they were caught wearing it. Upon further investigations, BFA cornered the security personnel working at the time the break-in was reported.

At his house, police found piles of plastic bags with national team colours.  Further scrutiny revealed that the bags had national team kit stolen from the Lekidi football centre. The incident follows many others reported at league offices where break-ins have been reported but nobody was caught. The association however is adamant that all perpetrators working for the association will be cast out if found on the wrong side of the law.  BFA says theft is one major reason why they found themselves in never ending debt.

Recently, at the ended COSAFA Castle cup held in South Africa, the association could not afford to provide Zebras Coach, Major David Bright with a cap as supplied by their sponsors All- Kasi because all went missing without a trace. It is believed there are individuals working for the association who have connections with others to rob the football federations- and should they be caught, no remorse will be shown on them. This year alone, BFA had to expel two staff members who failed to explain how money amounting to P700 000 went missing under their watch. The association is now steadfast in rooting out all wrong doers as a way of cleansing itself.
