South African dancer and singer, Busiswa is set to headline the Boitumelo Foundation Concert which has been slated for August 25 at Duma FM grounds. The main purpose of the event is to support local arts and raised funds will be diverted to charity causes.
Busiswa is a South African House music singer who has worked alongside DJ Zinhle and also famous for her creative dance moves. Also a new-age performance poet and singer, Busiswa’s stage energy is infectious. She has been nominated for awards such as the MTV Africa Music Best Female and South African Music Awards (SAMA) for Best Female also. She has won a SAMA for Best Kwaito Album.
Boitumelo Foundation, whose mandate is to ensure the welfare of the less privileged, will also be hosting the event as a way of assisting in all possible ways in the promotion of music, dance, arts, sports and culture through national and international events in Botswana. In an interview with WeekendLife, Buggicity who is a technical partnr of the concert explained that this year’s Boitumelo Foundation Concert will have a theme of cross cultural engagement, which is a fusion of different cultures but on one platform.
“This will go a long way in highlighting having an inclusive and diverse people in Botswana,” he said. He further explained that they need everyone to step up and come on board hence why they had to tap into the youth audience as they make most of the country’s population. “We are hoping to raise 1 million, and we are reaching out to the public and corporate entities to assist as we want to better the lives of people in rural villages especially students,” he said.
He highlighted that they wanted to come up with something that can make people contribute money and at the same time allow them to enjoy themselves. The event will also be a fusion of local acts and international acts such as Han-C, Dj Kuchi, Charma Girl and many more. Tickets are P250
The Chief Executive officer of Choppies, Ramachandran Ottapathu explained to this publication that more organized events as this one are still yet to come and had further explained that he had personally sponsored the event.
The sole mandate of Boitumelo Foundation as a nonprofit organisation is to support deserving community development efforts mainly around education and healthcare in Botswana including charitable institutions.

However, the award was snatched by the late South African rapper, AKA. Its not all lost as Han C secured two nominations at the Yarona FM Music Awards (YAMAs): People’s Choice of the Year and Best Male Single.

The show will be held next month at Zone 4 Farm in Selokolela, but the there are traditional dance music artists who have been lined up to perform at the show. Matshana, Morwa Leka and Maswailathota will be doing their thing and probably bring some heat too. Ditiro Leero will be making history as the first traditional artist to host a one-man show in Botswana.
With only two months before Miss World 2023, the reigning Miss Botswana, Lesego Chombo is having many irons in the fire, preparing for the much-anticipated beauty pageant. Miss World 2023 will be the 71st edition of Miss World pageant and it will be held in India. Chombo has been spotted toning her body at Jack’s gym, a requirement that is taken seriously at the pageant. She has also been participating in charity events, something that should add to her profile at the Miss World.
