Newly bred and local traditional sensation Khoi-San group will be setting stages ablaze at Maitisong Theatre. The group is set to give a performance on the 22nd of August alongside Motlha and other local renowned artists as well as Bekezela from South Africa.
The producer for Khoi-San, Suffocate, explained to WeekendLife that the group will debut their first ever one man show since inception. “Khoi-San are excited as this is an event they plan to host annually and hope to get support from Batswana. The group also expressed gratuity and extended its many thanks to Maitisong. They will be performing with a band of 10 on stage and have already started preparations concerning the event,” he shared. Alongside Khoi-San will be acts from Han-C, Bekezela from South Africa, Motlha of the Mma Motse hit song, as well as Double Up who is recently trending with full support from Batswana.
“Double up is trending for his catchy songs such as Tontobeletsa and Thukwi Le Mala not forgetting the amazing choir Tshwana Sanctified, who foretell to stun the show,” he explained. The group that took the music industry by storm early this year promises a show that will enthral many. “People should expect nothing but electric performances not only from Khoi-San but all artists. Magnitudes of the expected revellers are excited to witness a local line-up headlining their own events and Khoi-San extends its gratitude to all the artists who came to support them,” he said.
Suffocate reveals that Khoi-San experienced a split when two of its members decided to cut ties with the group leaving it with only three members. “The split did not do any harm to the group nor the record label as it was a decision taken internally. A mutual agreement between members,” he said. He further highlighted that despite all the turbulences, the group remains intact and strong as he hinted that Khoi-san is due to release another smash single before fall and have worked alongside Bekezela.
“The group is growing and face a bright onward as their single has been getting airplay on international radio stations including Jozi FM,” he said. Khoisan is a group originally put together by the multi-award winner and producer, Suffocate, who signed them to the award winning record label after their victorious win from the auditions the record label held in 2018. Their music is a fusion of soul, Borankana, Phathisi, Tsutsube, and other Tswana traditional dance patterns, Afro Jazz and Afro pop. The group endeavours to fuse their diverse and beautiful voices to produce what can only be described as a melodic and harmonious yield.
In May 2014, controversial pint sized musician, Odirile Sento married his longtime girlfriend, Kagiso Sento in a glamorous wedding, not knowing that eight years later, the two will be fighting until the very end of their holy union.
Mental health is one critical element in someone’s life but gloomily, it is often overlooked. Topics centered on mental health and depression dominate the public discourse. The national conversation surrounding mental wellness, both online and offline has aided in the stigma of suffering from depression being removed, slowly but surely.
