Boy restless at Rollers

Publishing Date : 27 May, 2019

Township Rollers danger man Segolame Boy is believed to have cast fresh doubt over his future after sources revealed that he is torn between penning a new contract and pursuing his boyhood dream of playing professional football.

Before the fall of Free State Stars from top flight football in South Africa, it was believed that Boy was on his way to the club, with former coach Nikola Kavazovic leading negotiations. With this move having frantically collapsed, it is rumoured that Teenage Mpote’s Orapa United is interested in luring the industrious midfielder.

Interestingly, it is believed that Boy recognises Orapa United as one of the country’s leading clubs, capable of competing for the grandest prizes. In the event of leaving Rollers, whom he joined from Miscellaneous, he has always dreamt of playing for a rich paying club, and surely United is very capable. Boy has enjoyed his years at Rollers, where he is feted by the supporters, but Orapa now makes him feel that the time is right to move on. It is impossible to dispute the value and service that he has given to the club, with the last two seasons being his very best.

Boy, has over the years, caught the interest of many South African clubs but Rollers had always felt uncomfortable to release him. However, those close to developments mention that Boy is yet to be shocked by the stubborn position held by Rollers management; the four time BTC premiership winners will surely hate losing such a prized possession without finding a proper replacement. The Rollers’ management have a reputation of being tough negotiators but for Boy, the move to united is another golden opportunity to write new football chapters.

Again, the situation is turning ugly for Rollers more because they are now set to lose the player on a ‘free transfer.’  Those close to Boy believe that the player is looking for new fresh environment owing to complications of his social life.  This is indeed a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for a rare talent which has unfortunately only ever flattered to deceive.

However, it is believed that Rollers is merely maintaining that their prized asset is not for sale. In all essence, Boy is worth to Rudolph Zapata’s team is obvious but  Boy who hails from Serowe might as well be feeling that there comes a point when it is unfair to hold somebody ransom because of loyalty. When approached for comment, Rollers media liaison Phemepheretlhe Pheto distanced the club from any information linking Boy to United. He however accepted that Boy’s contract is coming to an end this season.
