Publishing Date : 18 February, 2019

Famous for his celebrity clientele base, Thapelo Letsebe, a wardrobe stylist, and makeup artist is the man behind cabinet minister, Dorcas Makgato’s looks. Many people have been bashing the minister for her outrageous looks, but recently, she impressed many at this year’s budget speech with her royal couture, thanks to Letsebe’s creative work.

Letsebe explained that his relationship with the minister took-off after he was invited to a Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) Women’s High Tea in 2018. She was then introduced to minister Makgato. “Roseline Panzirah-Matshome had asked me to do her make-up and also introduced me to Makgato and we literally heated up. She would then ask me numerous questions and later she asked for my number,” said Letsebe.

Letsebe has also previously done styling and make-up for; Mascom Chief Communications and Public Relations Officer, Tebogo Lebotse-Sebego; Rb2 presenter, Khumo Kgwaadira; Stanbic Bank Head of Marketing, Stephanie Stoneham and afro-pop artist Samantha Mogwe.
Adding to the list of his clientele are; TV presenter, Marang Molosiwa and radio personality, Tshepo Ntshole whom he define as not just clients but also as friends he treasures fondly.

“She [Ntshole] is more than a friend, she is my biggest cheerleader who genuinely wants to see me succeed in life,” he hinted. “That celebrity quality is not there when we are together. They are just people,” he said. Although famous for styling celebrities, Letsebe also has a custom base of ordinary clients. In an industry dominated by females, Letsebe said doing make-up and styling is a passion that he will pursue regardless of the status qou.

“I went to school to study Accounting, but there was no passion burning within me. I always knew this not what I wanted to do,” Letsebe said. “I just wanted to make my mother happy. I have always been a creative.” Letsebe expressed self-gratification with his skills as they have opened doors for him. “This job needs somebody who is bubbly and tenacious. My craft has taken me to places I never thought I could be. I am living life in the fast lane and I am enjoying it,” he added.
