Nijel, PP cut ties with Mr World Botswana

Publishing Date : 27 November, 2018

Athletic icon Nijel Amos and music promoter Gilbert “PP’ Seagile, who joined hands with Oarabile Carol Keosedile to revive the Mr World Botswana which was silent for years have parted ways with the latter.

The trio could not reach agreement in postponing the event due to reportedly ‘unforeseen’ circumstances. Although the current organiser, Keosedile will go solo, she is more than ready to stage the event even though her partners pulled out at the eleventh hour. In an interview with WeekendLife, Amos explained that they pulled out because they wanted to something big without compromising.

“The concept of Chase Dream Empire and Gilbert Promotions for this event won’t fit well with the time we had to put together the event, it will mean cutting corners and that means decreasing value of the event which our values doesn’t allow us to,” he explained.
He said they are known for their competent skills and delivering their services quite well. “Our duty was to bring concept and coordinating it with the event. Which with records of great events we hosted, we were to bring that market and value to the event,” he highlighted.
As it stands now they are no longer part of the team that organises the event.

“They have new team in maybe. We wish them all the best and will definitely support them even if we are no longer together. Whenever they need advice we are open to that. It’s our duty to build Botswana entertainment industry too,” he added. Founder and owner of Gilbert Promotions, Gilbert Seagile also explained that the pageant did not have a budget hence why they could not put their reputation on line.

“Gilbert Promotions together with Nijel Amos of Chase the Dream are no longer part and parcel of Mr World Botswana 2018, reputation is our major priority unlike short term money,” he hinted. He further said the owner does not have a budget at all. “Not just to pay us but to run the project, she is depending on sponsors, so we asked her to do it next year once and she refused,” Seagile explained.

Seagile also shared that he found out that it was too late to rely on sponsors. “There is no one who can sponsor anyone at this time. Then we wondered where the money for the winner to go to Philippines is going to come from. So we suggested that the event be postponed next year to give it proper planning because sponsors will be having money,” he lamented.He said time was no enough to raise P600 000 but she suggested otherwise and she said she is staging the event despite anything.

Keosedile declined to comment on what happened, referring this publication to the two gentlemen. Meanwhile Mr World Botswana will be staged at Stanbic Bank Piazza on the 2nd of December and the following will be contending for the title;
Goanaope Muyuba, Unaswi Tshiamo, Emmanuel Molosiwa, Itseng Kasemang, Bonalenna Moetsabatho, Gaofenngwe Ranthatha, Karabo Kwadibana, Jonathan Chakalisa, Mpho Seete, Mompati Tantaung andThabiso Seete
